Fuck you, Dr. Pepper.

So…the whole “not for women thing” I drink Dr. Pepper 10 and I’m a female. Tastes like every other Dr. Pepper I’ve ever drank. I personally enjoy the commercials and how they try to make them as manly as possible. I don’t get why people get so worked up over stupid shit like these commercials, but I guess I wouldn’t understand because I’m a woman and I make kitchen jokes. I have a man’s sense of humour I guess because these commercials don’t bother men…just uptight feminists. Sorry if I offended anyone, but that is my opinion. 

*shrugs* They’re just sort of poorly thought out. The commercials are a joke, they’re just really bad jokes. Tab was like the first diet soda and it was directed mainly at women and adverts for diet sodas are still directed mainly at women. Dr. Pepper is trying to sell a diet soda to men by making it seem manly and tough, but the commercial is sort of clearly a farce.

I don’t think the point of the commercial was to deter women from drinking the soda, I think it was to appeal to a general “male” sense of humor and get men to by that shit.

The commercial is a joke, it’s just a bad one. It doesn’t deliver very well, I don’t think. People get so worked up about stupid shit like this is because stupid shit like this gets ignored and it piles up until it’s an enormous steaming pile of bubonic misogyny. 

The commercial represents “manly men” and says that “it’s not for women” and appears to ignore the fact that women are likely the ones who are doing the grocery shopping. It begs the questions: what about it isn’t for women? Is it too strong? Are we to inferior to this superior Dr. Pepper beverage?

And then you’ve got these ridiculous, over-the-top stereotypical manly men and says if you don’t enjoy action movies with catchphrases then you must be a woman. It doesn’t just exclude women but a good chunk of the male population as well and it feeds into this cultural idea that exists that women are somehow inferior. The worst thing you can call a woman is a whore and the worst thing you can call a man is a girl.

I like to think that those commercials were badly delivered jokes, and that hopefully Dr. Pepper got the message that they weren’t very funny, but I doubt they could hear me- I was in the kitchen.

I like they’re all sitting there, pretty much in the same position, except for Cato who’s just like “yeah, what about it”

Also Foxface looks a lot like Deborah Ann Woll in this shot.
